Rachael Passalt and Janice Morganstein No Longer Producers of Caprice & Ella

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Ava Zinn, creator and executive producer of the series Caprice & Ella, announced Friday a major creative decision: the permanent ban of the four-part episode arc “Flagged by Design,” following backlash from Purdue Fort Wayne officials and internal concerns about its portrayal of institutional conflict and disability advocacy.

The decision to pull the episode has prompted a leadership shift within the production team. Effective immediately, Rachael Passalt and Janice Morganstein have been released from their roles as producers. Both will remain active members of the cast. Karly Jameson will continue as the sole producer and is set to be named co-executive producer beginning with Season 10.

“This was not an easy call,” Zinn said. “But as a creator, I have a responsibility to ensure our stories reflect truth without causing harm. Rachael and Janice have been instrumental in shaping the show, and I’m grateful they’ll continue to bring their talent to the screen.”

Caprice & Ella, known for its bold storytelling and emotionally charged performances, premiered Feb. 27, 2021, and has built a dedicated following. With new production leadership and a renewed creative direction, Zinn promises fresh energy as the show enters its next phase.

Further announcements regarding new producers and upcoming episodes will be released in the coming weeks.
