Part 3 begins with Ava continuing the quest to find a suitable apartment after being denied tenancy at Preston Pointe at The Inverness and Newburyport Apartments. She is 12 miles south of Purdue University Fort Wayne on Anthony Boulevard, heading towards Villa Capri Apartments. Despite her reservations about the area, she is hopeful that this complex might offer some amenities that her current place at Golfview Apartments lacks, such as washer-dryer hookups and dishwashers. Upon arrival, Ava is puzzled by some unfamiliar objects, which she initially thinks might be security cameras or dryer vents, but eventually realizes they are exhaust pipes. She seems to be in a state of mixed emotions, hoping for good news but also feeling that Villa Capri is the last place she would want to live. A few weeks go by, and Ava learns her application at Villa Capri is denied because she is a full-time student at Purdue Fort Wayne and eventually visits Waterloo Gardens Apartments. She speaks with the property manager, identified as Sasha Boehme and notes that the complex reminds Ava of Black Pine Flats. Waterloo Gardens offers washer-dryer hookups, which Golfview Apartments lacks. However, she is frustrated to learn that they no longer accept money orders, adding to her list of grievances. Ava reveals that Waterloo Gardens is the fourth apartment complex she has applied to and is feeling the strain of the process. She observes that an outdoor charcoal grill and outdoor security cameras might be making a comeback, and she plans to install a security system in addition to the existing Ring doorbell and indoor security cameras, once she moves in. She hopes to move in by August 23, but if there are delays beyond August 26, it could cause significant problems, especially with her plans at Purdue University Fort Wayne. Ava is determined to make the best of the situation, despite the challenges and the less-than-ideal location, which has had issues with vandalism and a shooting in the past year. After returning home, Ava reassures Caprice that she will get the cat perch back, which she built after adopting Caprice. Ava reflects on past experiences with three property managers and hopes the new one won’t cause problems. Caprice expresses frustration with the situation and the rules that make it difficult for Ava to reach her goals. Ava is relieved that Caprice won’t need to be declawed and that she and Ella are already spayed. She plans to provide more details to Caprice and Ella when the time comes. Caprice humorously recalls hissing at a maintenace guy over 1500 times and puffing her tail numerous times. Ava mentions that the new place will have a washer and dryer hookup, but likely no dishwasher. Caprice and Ella both express their concerns and hopes for the new place, with Caprice being particularly vocal about her feelings. Ava reassures Caprice and Ella that things will be okay and that they will have security measures in place. She also reminds them about their vaccinations and encourages Ava to get something to eat. The episode ends on another cliffhanger and seems like a challenging but hopeful transition for Ava, Caprice, and Ella.
