Caprice & Ella 704 | Terms of Enragement: Preston Pointe Your Luck to Newburyport Apartments (Part 4)

Part 4 begins as Ava is under a lot of pressure with the upcoming move and the start of the semester at Purdue Fort Wayne. Ava is under immense stress as she prepares for the move from Golfview Apartments to a new apartment at Waterloo Gardens Apartments. After four applications, she finally has a moving date and a new address, but only has one week to pack everything. Luckily, Ava had a majority of things packed up beforehand. The pressure is compounded as the first day of the Fall 2024 semester at Purdue Fort Wayne approaches. Caprice and Ella are present during this chaotic time.

Things appear to take a turn for the worse when Ava learns that the move-in date at Waterloo Gardens Apartments might be pushed back, causing Ava significant problems. Despite her multiple attempts to contact the apartment management, she receives no response, leaving her feeling frustrated and helpless. Ava expresses her anger and concern about the situation, fearing that someone might get hurt due to the mounting stress and unresolved issues.

As the first day of the Fall 2024 semester begins, Ava’s frustration grows. She blames a person at the Fort Wayne Housing Authority for screwing everything up and contemplates taking drastic actions. Despite attending classes at Purdue University Fort Wayne, which ended up being the last ones as a resident of the northeast side of Fort Wayne, Ava is preoccupied with the move, which has gone wrong multiple times.

Ava reflects on her past experiences, including her high school graduation and attending Indiana Wesleyan University, and the challenges she faced during those times. Caprice expresses relief that the move is finally happening after almost eight months of searching (though in reality it took five months and four applications). Ava reassures Caprice that the new place will be different, with new furniture and cat-friendly features.

On the day of the move, which was September 3rd, 2024, Ava spends her final hours at Golfview Apartments. She recounts her last activities as a resident, including visiting Copper Canyon (as the final store as a resident of the northeast side of Fort Wayne) and having an Italian bread pizza. The movers, identified as Wild Safari Moving (via U.S. Relocation Services) face delays, causing further frustration for Ava. Eventually after a five-and-a-half-hour delay, the movers from Indianapolis finally arrive, and Ava begins the process of moving into Waterloo Gardens Apartments.

Despite the challenges, Ava is pleased with the new home and its amenities. Ava sets up Caprice’s cat tree and reflects on the improvements as a resident of the new place compared to her old place. Ava mentions that her daughter, Tabitha, acknowledges that while Ava has made mistakes, moving to Waterloo Gardens (now The Meridian Apartments) is not one of them. The episode continues with Ava returning to the old home to retrieve a handful of items left behind by the movers (among the items are a box fan, a couple of lamps, a couple of mirrors, various cleaning tools, a couple of containers without lids, a step stool, three boxes of trash bags, one of Caprice's litter boxes, a stepstool, and the cremated ashes of Ava's mother). She finally completes the move with the help of an Uber driver, identified as Felix, whom she tips generously due to the circumstances.

The first night at the new place is exhausting yet ended up being peaceful for Ava. She reflects on the long day and the challenges she faced. Ava (with Breeanna visiting as Ashli, Tabitha, and Baby Kenny are babysitting for Leeland, Jessica, Lyssa, and Sierra in another household) settle into the new bedroom, a space Ava and Breeanna share for sleeping and intimacy. Ava notes that she has never allowed Caprice and Ella in the bedroom before, so it will take some getting used to.

Ava begins the process of settling into the new home, making rearrangements and decorating. She receives a package from Amazon with a sign that says “Security Cameras in use. Beware of the cat and dog.” Ava is pleased with the new amenities, including the renovated laundry room with PayRange washers and dryers, which she had not seen in her previous homes.

Overall, Ava is optimistic about her new home and the improvements it offers compared to her old place. The episode highlights Ava’s struggle with housing issues and the emotional toll it takes on her, as well as the support she receives from her friends, family, and pets.
