Caprice & Ella 708 | Addressing Concerns #7

The episode begins with Caprice being in a messy room, and the show from "High Potential" is playing in the background. Caprice and Ava discuss the need to find help for Ella, who has been having accidents that Ava has to clean up, which was revealed to be due to Ava being at Purdue Fort Wayne. Caprice suggests hiring a pet sitter, and Ava agrees but mentions the cost--something Ava does not have. Ella approaches Ava, trying to play, but Ava needs to talk to her seriously. Ava tells Ella that she can't keep having accidents inside the house and suggests getting a pet sitter or enrolling Ella in more training. Ella, frustrated, responds that something needs to be done as she can't continue this way. Caprice, playing with Ella, comments on the bad smell in the room, and Ava acknowledges the mess. Caprice mentions going to bed, while Ella tries to convince Ava to play, but Ava is too tired. Ava expresses gratitude for Caprice's help earlier and mentions buying Friskies wet cat food for Caprice, while Ella has only had wet food once since moving to Waterloo Gardens.

The next day, Caprice confronts Ava about her late arrival, expressing concern over being left for nearly twelve hours. Ella, adding to the frustration, agrees it was a careless move. Caprice and Ella stress the importance of Ava’s presence, highlighting their reliance on her. Ava, visibly stressed, explains that if they are unhappy, they can always complain to her advisor, Marrietta Frye, at Purdue Fort Wayne. Caprice humorously threatens to strangle Ava, referencing Homer Simpson’s actions towards Bart Simpson, of which does happen, and such occurrences are rare. The tension is briefly alleviated by this comic relief, but quickly shifts back to the serious discussion.

During a Zoom meeting with Ava’s professor identified as Lee Roberts, Caprice and Ella react negatively at Professor Roberts upon learning that Ava was not allowed to use notes (a well-known study aid for Ava as her schedule makes it nearly next to impossible for Ava to study and any time allotted would take time away from other things Ava does). Ella barks and Caprice hisses at the professor, upon hearing this and this does not sit well with Ava. Ava realizes the significance of their actions, understanding that their disapproval mirrored her own academic struggles. The pets’ responses underline Ava’s anxiety about balancing her studies and responsibilities. Caprice and Ella’s frustration is palpable as they try to convey the impossibility of managing school, work, and personal commitments simultaneously. Ava finally acknowledges their perspective, admitting the difficulty of studying with her overloaded schedule and numerous obligations.

The episode highlights Ava’s immense pressure from her academic and personal life, shedding light on the broader theme of struggling to balance work, education, and family responsibilities. It closes with Ava coming to terms with her situation, prompted by Caprice and Ella’s unfiltered honesty and support.

This episode underscores the need for Ava to reassess her commitments and find a sustainable balance to manage her hectic life effectively.
